Cold Weather Policies

In response to the cold weather we`d like to announce two new practices that we will be implementing to further protect the health of SYIS students.

1. If the temperature or the wind-chill is at -30 degree Celcius outdoor recess will be cancelled.

2. If the temperature or the wind-chill is at -30 degree Celcius close to the time that students need to be waiting for the morning bus, then the school will be cancelled for that day.

These policies are consistent with the US school district practices in the states of Minnesota and Michigan, which share the approximate latitude with Shenyang.

As with snow days, the School Office will send a text message to your cell-phones first thing in the morning in the event of a cancellation, so we`d ask you, as you would on a snow day, to pay close attention to the weather, cellphones, and the School website for regular updates.
